following jesus...

At the heart of Liberty Crossings is a burning desire to learn to follow Jesus with all that we have and all that we are. Perhaps Jesus' words say it best...the first and greatest commandment is to "love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength." Mark 12:30 This is not a state of mind. This is not a warm and fuzzy feeling in the heart. This is a way of life that naturally flows from a changed heart.

The Good News is that God can use our dutiful acts of kindness, often done out of a sense of obligation, to creep into our hearts and make us different. As we interact with the needy, marginalized or oppressed, we find a new kind of inner life. In their physical poverty we find a foil for our own spiritual poverty, the poverty of abundance. We hear a voice calling us to lay everything down for the joy of the Lord...to lay everything down for the good of His children. What a blessing it is to have a moment of clarity that reveals God's deeper purposes for your life!

What follows is a simple desire to follow Jesus in His ministry of transforming the world, one heart, one life, one marriage, one family, one community at a time. We invite you to join us in our desire to follow Jesus and transform the world.

Our mission strategy is to be engaged in the needs of our world represented on the local level such as Glenwood Autism Center or Firehouse Homeless Shelter, on the national level such as hurricane or tornado disaster relief, and on the international level thru our Nicaragua Mission, Operation Christmas Child and a partnership with Compassion International. To get involved, simply call Sharon at the church office (951-7707) or email sharon@libertycrossingsumc.org.
